Financial news should make sense. That's the point.
Insurance and banking matter to almost everyone. Understanding what's happening in those industries shouldn't be unnecessarily difficult.
Why I started The Financial Edition
Before moving to the UK for my MBA, I spent nearly four years working in insurance. I saw how decisions made inside financial firms affect brokers, businesses and the people relying on them.
I've always felt those stories deserve to be explained in a way that makes sense beyond the people writing the reports. That's why I started The Financial Edition.
I hope you find it useful, whether you've worked in financial services for years or you're just getting your head around it.

Why we're here
There's plenty of financial news. What isn't always easy to find is a straightforward explanation of what has actually changed, who's affected and why anyone should care.
The Financial Edition brings together developments in UK insurance and banking and explains them without the unnecessary fuss. Whether you work in the industry or simply want to understand it, you should come away knowing something useful.
What we cover
Our two desks are Insurance and Banking. We follow the firms, regulators, commercial decisions and everyday developments shaping these sectors, from underwriting and broker distribution to lending, payments and customer outcomes.
How we approach the news
Working in insurance taught me how much the detail behind a financial announcement matters. A decision that looks straightforward in a headline can mean something quite different to the brokers, businesses and customers dealing with it. That experience shapes The Financial Edition: get beyond the headline and explain what changes in practice.
We start with the evidence: regulatory notices, official documents, company announcements and established reporting. Every article links to its original source. We make it clear when something is a company's statement rather than independently reported fact.
Dates matter, and so do the limits of the evidence. We keep older developments properly dated and use “Why it matters” to explain a real consequence, not fill space with speculation.
An edition for today
Our daily edition focuses on developments reported on the same UK calendar day. Earlier reports remain available in the archive, with their original dates.
We look for worthwhile developments throughout the day. If there's nothing new to report, we don't dress up an older story as fresh news.
Corrections and accountability
Good information matters, and so does putting mistakes right. If you spot something inaccurate, please send us a correction request with the article and relevant source. We aim to make material corrections clear rather than quietly rewriting the record.
The Financial Edition is independent of the organisations it covers. Its articles are for information, not personal financial, investment or insurance advice.
