Clone Firm Details and Risks

The Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) has issued a warning against an unauthorized clone firm operating under the names PCPHero and motorrefunds.co.uk, using the website motorrefunds.co.uk and the email address support@motorrefunds.co.uk. The entity has been contacting individuals while falsely pretending to be a genuine, FCA-authorised firm, even utilizing a previous trading name of the legitimate business. The FCA advises that dealing with unauthorized clone firms means consumers will not have access to the Financial Ombudsman Service or protection under the Financial Services Compensation Scheme if issues arise.

Genuine Firm Distinction

The legitimate, FCA-authorised firm targeted by the fraudsters is Bamboo Marketing NW Limited, which holds the Firm Reference Number 930314 and is located at Houldsworth Business & Arts Centre in Stockport. The genuine company has no connection to the clone website or its operators. The regulator urges consumers to verify financial firms using the official FCA Firm Checker and to report any unexpected contacts from suspicious entities.
