FCA issues warning over unauthorised clone firm using Octopus Investments name

Unauthorised firm details

The Financial Conduct Authority has issued a warning regarding an unauthorised entity operating at client.octopus-firm.com and using the email address support@octopus-firm.com. The regulator confirmed that the entity is a clone firm fraudulently using the details of the FCA-authorised company Octopus Investments Limited, which holds Firm Reference Number 194779 and is based at 33 Holborn, London. The genuine firm has no connection to the clone operation.

Consumer protections and reporting

Clients who deal with the clone firm will not have access to the Financial Ombudsman Service or protection from the Financial Services Compensation Scheme if the business fails. The FCA advises consumers to check financial firms using its Firm Checker tool and to report suspicious approaches through its contact line.
