Board Leadership and Responsibilities

Luke Jensen has taken up his three-year appointment as Chair of the National Savings and Investments (NS&I) Board, following an open competition run by HM Treasury. Jensen has served on the board since April 2024 and acted as interim chair after Lord Gerard Lemos stepped down in July 2025. Minister for Pensions Torsten Bell confirmed the appointment, noting Jensen's background across retail and consumer sectors, including roles as a non-executive director for the Co-operative Group and Senior Advisor at Eat Happy Hana Group. The appointment was regulated by the Office of the Commissioner for Public Appointments, with no political activity declared by the appointee over the past five years.

Strategic Priorities for NS&I

As permanent chair, Jensen will oversee the organisation's core remit of raising cost-effective debt financing for the government, alongside supporting its ongoing transformation programme and remediation scheme following recent bereavement claims issues. Interim Chief Executive Sir Jim Harra welcomed the appointment, highlighting NS&I's role as a major savings organisation providing 100% security backed by HM Treasury. Board members are responsible for maintaining sound strategy, overseeing risk controls, and managing relationships with external outsourcing partners.
