Market growth and rate pressures

Specialty insurance has experienced sustained growth, with Lloyd's writing around US$10 billion of premium in Asia Pacific at an annual growth rate just under 10%. However, Lloyd's Singapore-based Asia Scheme was broadly flat in 2025 following twelve consecutive quarters of falling financial and professional lines rates in Asia, according to Marsh data.

Technology and underwriting insight

Carl Bach, head of international business in the UK at The Hartford, notes that while technology accelerates quote turnaround times and digital placement speed, competitive advantage will increasingly depend on insight and market knowledge rather than processing transactions alone. In the UK, commercial rates overall fell 8% in the second quarter of 2026 according to Marsh, with brokers expecting the soft market to plateau by year-end.
