Liberty Specialty Markets has named Richard Richards as its new head of property direct and facultative, effective November 2, 2026. Based in London, Richards takes charge of the insurer’s property D&F operations in the capital and will report directly to Kevin Demmon, divisional director of property for the UK and MENA. He succeeds to a role overseeing the portfolio's performance, management, and strategic priorities while supporting long-term growth objectives and maintaining underwriting standards.

Underwriting background

Richards brings more than two decades of property D&F sector experience to the post, including a 10-year tenure as a senior class underwriter with Chaucer Syndicates. Earlier in his career, he held positions at Allianz and Zurich.
