Revenue and compensation expenses

Ryan Specialty recorded total revenue of US$790 million for the third quarter of 2026, marking a 4.7% increase year-over-year. Over the same period, compensation and benefits expenses rose 9.9% to US$484.2 million. This disparity pushed the GAAP compensation and benefits ratio to 61.3%, up from 58.4% a year earlier. Chief executive Timothy W. Turner described the operating environment as one of the most challenging the market has seen.

Market headwinds and restructuring

The insurer's results reflect divergent conditions across specialty lines, with excess and surplus property rates falling sharply while casualty lines remain firmer due to social inflation and litigation pressures. To address margin pressures, Ryan Specialty is executing its Empower Program, a three-year restructuring initiative targeting US$80 million in annual savings by 2029 against projected charges of US$160 million through 2028.
