Departure and career background

Sheila Cameron will step down as chief executive of the Lloyd's Market Association in early 2027, concluding a seven-year tenure that began in January 2019. Cameron will remain in her position into early 2027 to facilitate an orderly transition before moving into a new advisory role in the London market, while the search for her successor is currently underway. Before leading the LMA as its first female chief executive, Cameron held operational roles at Xchanging, Hiscox, and Navigators Underwriting, and chaired the LMA operations committee.

Tenure and industry response

Cameron's tenure as chief executive coincided with the cultural reform agenda following a 2019 Bloomberg investigation into harassment at Lloyd's, alongside her work on the London Market Group's Data Council during the Blueprint Two digitalisation programme. LMA chair Sean McGovern stated that Cameron expanded the organisation's influence and capabilities, while Lloyd's chief executive Patrick Tiernan described her as a critical friend who held the Corporation accountable on strategy, culture, and budgetary issues.
